Kapalua Wine and Food Festival

For thirty years, Master Sommeliers have descended on Maui and in conjunction with local chefs, beverage distributors, and the Kapalu Resort have hosted a four day weekend wine and food extravaganza.  If you are contemplating a visit to Maui during the early summer and would like to enjoy a fun weekend of tasting amazing wines and good food, plan your trip to include the Kapalua Wine and Food Festival.

This year was the Thirty Year Celebration of the festival!  We've been talking to our friends about the festival for several years-I think we've been four times to some or all of it-and finally convinced four of them from SF to come over.    They are already asking when we can register for 2012!

Greenwich Village Food Tour

As I mentioned a few weeks ago in my post about Eataly, we had some amazing food experiences on a trip to the mainland earlier this year. One wonderful day was spent experiencing all things food related (well, not ALL, but many) in Greenwich Village, New York.

A Trip to Eataly

We were very fortunate earlier this year to take a trip to San Francisco, New York and Atlanta.  San Francisco to see friends and visit some of the old 'hood, New York to explore with friends from Maui who were also in the city, and Atlanta to see family and attend a blogging conference.  We had some amazing food experiences along the way, one of which I want to share with you today.  A trip to Eataly.

The Sweet Auburn Curb Market, Atlanta, Georgia

Pulled pork taco and barbeque chicken taco from the Sweet Auburn Barbeque food truck, mmm mmm good!

I took a couple of days out of this recent trip to attend my first blogging conference.  It was in Atlanta where my kids live.  I hated to give up two days of our time there to go to a conference but they were at work anyway.   So while Mr. ELEB amused himself at the golf course and the symphony, I learned more about the blogging world at BlogHer Food, 2011.

Three weeks, a second degree burn, and Twitter

Simply elegant place setting at The Slanted Door, San Francisco
It’s good to be back.  Hopefully you didn’t notice I was gone.   Twenty-three days away from home, away from the kitchen, away from my morning beach walks, away from my bike and weights, away from the blog.  Well, not really away from the blog thanks to automated posting.  Plus, I logged in every day to read your comments and to reply to any direct email questions.  But this is the first new blog post I’ve written in almost a month.  I’ve missed it!

I also missed cooking.  While on this trip, I helped cook some roasted veggies at a friend’s house in San Francisco (and gave myself a 2nd degree burn in the process), cooked a simple meal at my son’s apartment in Atlanta, and made him a microwaved egg white breakfast one morning (no injuries incurred).   And that was it for cooking.  Eating?  Oh, yes there was plenty of that.  Stay tuned.
